The Sports Lounge: Nola crew caught up with Saints star linebacker and Brandon, Miss. native Demario Davis during mini camp.
From Brandon, Miss. to Arkansas State to the New York Jets, Demario Davis has had to move around in his career. Last year he got the opportunity to join a Super Bowl contender in the New Orleans Saints, and play close to his hometown in Mississippi.
In his first year, Davis made a major impact for the Black and Gold, racking up over 100 combined tackles along with five sacks and11 tackles for a loss. This year’s Saints team has no shortage of talent at every unit on offense, and make no mistake about it, the defense looks special again. It may have only been mini camp, but Davis says the Saints are back with a competitive fire. Their chance to be a top defensive unit centers around Davis in the middle.
The move to New Orleans also brought Davis closer to home, where he’s making a huge impact off the field. Davis and his wife Tamela Gill-Davis run a Mississippi-based foundation together called Devoted Dreamers. Davis tells us a little about the foundation, the difference it makes for your young people, and why it is so important for him to be close to home.
